Good Alternative to Quicken, reminds me of what I used to like about Quicken.
I have used Quicken on a Mac since 1994. The upgrade process had become increasingly painful and in my opinion the product (Quicken Essentials) itself was not nearly as nice as it had been in previous versions, other than a smoother download process for online banking. As I had to upgrade anyway, I decided to try Moneydance. I was able to transfer all of my transactions, however I lost their associated catgories in the process, which is frustrating. However, the upgrade to QE was just as painful a couple of years ago and I was not particularly interested in the extra cost of Quicken 2015 and apparent continued frustration of upgrading (based upon reviews).
Moneydance reminds me a great deal of the Quicken of old with a good user interface and decent graphs and reports. Overall, I’m pleased with Moneydance and have not found any reason to return to Quicken.
